In Nursery we are explorers who love to learn through play and fun experiences. We are working really hard to grow and develop to become independent learners, and gaining new skills everyday . We learn to follow the class golden rules to become kind and caring members of the class. A typical nursery day sees the children exploring a range of stimulating activities that have been set up around the indoor and outdoor classrooms. Our daily carpet sessions and focus activities concentrate on specific areas of the curriculum. Fun facts: We love to express ourselves through role play and love to dance and sing on our out-door stage.
We offer a wide and varied range of rich experiences that enable children to explore their own interests and promote curiosity. Our approach is committed to child-led learning. We see children as confident and capable learners who are able to lead their own learning and develop their own ideas and theories. It is our intent that all children develop physically, verbally, cognitively and emotionally in an environment which values all cultures, communities and people. We prioritise creating a ‘language rich’ environment through the use of songs, nursery rhymes, stories and providing time for quality interactions between adults and between peers. There are seven areas of learning and development that shape activities and experiences for the children. Of these areas, three – known as the prime areas – are vital for igniting children’s curiosity and building their capacity to learn and form relationships. These are communication and language, physical development, and personal, social and emotional development. The three prime areas are strengthened and applied through the four specific areas: literacy, mathematics, understanding the world, and expressive arts and design.
