Reception Giraffes
Class Teacher: Mrs Bhatarah
Early Years Practitioner: Miss Moon
We are looking forward to learning lots of new things! This year there is a different approach to the curriculum, using our interests as the lead. We are excited to welcome visitors such as the Police, Guide Dogs and Fire Brigade.
We will have a phonics lesson everyday which will help us to read and write. There is a special Maths area in the classroom which will help us to develop number and problem solving skills. Most importantly we will learn how to be independent and work as part of a team. We will also start P.E. lessons and learn lots of new skills. In R.E. we will learn about the Creation and being a child of God.
This week Reception have been reading ‘Pumpkin Soup’ by Helen Cooper. The children have produced some beautiful still life pumpkin pictures using oil pastels. They have also been exploring pumpkins: measuring, counting and exploring what is inside. At the end of the week, the children made some yummy pumpkin soup using the recipes and instructions they wrote. It was delicious!
