do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus,

Welcome to the Nursery

Welcome to Nursery. Our class teachers are Mrs Cheung , Miss Davies and Mrs Langley

In Nursery we are explorers who love to learn through play and fun experiences. We are working really hard to grow and develop to become  independent learners, and gaining new skills everyday . We are learning to follow the class golden rules to become kind and caring members of the class.

A typical nursery day sees the children exploring a range of stimulating activities that have been set up around the indoor and outdoor classrooms. Our daily carpet sessions and focus activities concentrate on specific areas of the curriculum. Over the year we will explore some places in our local area, such as the library and the shop. We are looking forward to an exciting year ahead watching the children flourish.

Settling In - September 2021

The Nursery children have settled in extremely well.  They have enjoyed exploring their new surroundings and making new friends.  We are very proud of them.

Celebrations November - December 2021

This half term Nursery have been learning about different celebrations. In November we learnt about Diwali and Firework Night. The children made Rangoli patterns using different media and materials. They made firework patterns using sand and glitter and drew beautiful pictures using chalks. In December our theme was preparing for Christmas. The children helped to decorate the nursery and they listened carefully to the Nativity story. The children also dressed as angels as part of the Early Years Christmas concert.

Ark Farm Visit December 2021

The children were really excited to meet the farm animals at Nursery. There was a friendly donkey, three woolly sheep, two pygmy goats and two hungry rabbits. They fed the rabbits and stroked the animals using their gentle hands. Naivasha the black Labrador was very friendly and kept wagging his tail.

People Who Help Us - January 2022

This term in Nursery, the children are enjoying the topic, ‘People Who Help Us’. This week, PC Adam came to visit us and spoke about his job as a Police Officer. He showed us his uniform and the equipment he uses and explained how the police can help us. The children particularly enjoyed learning about the handcuffs and walkie talkie.

Spring - March 2022

In Nursery we have been learning about the season ‘spring’.  We have painted still-life pictures of daffodils and planted some bulbs.  During our carpet time sessions we learnt about the signs of spring e.g. blossom on the trees, birds making nests.  We then decided to make some bird feeders but we think the greedy squirrels ate all of the food!!  Mrs Langley showed us how to use her special camera and we took photographs of spring flowers.

Outdoor Area Update February 2021

In February Nursery got some new outdoor equipment!  This has included new climbing and balancing equipment, which helps children’s physical development.  Mr Humby, our Caretaker, kindly built the Nursery a stage and a new mud kitchen.  The new construction area has proved a success with children building models such as a garden centre and a table for The Last Supper!!
