Black History

Dear Parents/Guardians,

October is Black History Month in the UK and we at The Blue School Primary have been marking Black History Month by recognising and valuing the inspirational individuals and events in the United Kingdom as well as the wider world.  Over the last three weeks, we have remembered and celebrated the important people from the past and also those who contribute to and help our society today.

The aims of Black History Month are to:

  • Promote knowledge of black history, culture and heritage
  • Share information on positive black contributions to British society and the wider world

From the week beginning Monday 19th October – Friday 6th November, each class will have the opportunity to participate in an interactive Black History workshop.

EYFS – The Storytelling workshop with focus on inclusive

KS1Storytelling Workshops – Trip back in time (Empire Windrush)

KS2 – Looking at the strive for equality throughout recent history, including the events and significant individuals that impacted change

We kindly ask that you pay £3.50 towards the cost of the workshop by Monday 5th November 2020. Payment for this can be done online via ParentPay. Simply log into your ParentPay account, and click on the payment item “Black History Workshop”.

Kind regards,

Kella Callender

History & Geography Coordinator
