Whatever you do in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.

The School Day

The school day has a soft start at 8.40am and finishes at 3.20pm for children in Key Stages One and Two (Reception through to Year 6).

Nursery children attend either a morning or afternoon session. The morning session is from 8:40am to 11:40am and the afternoon session runs from 12:30pm – 3.30pm.

Attendance is monitored closely and pupils are encouraged to develop positive patterns of attendance and punctuality in order to maximise their time at The Blue School.

Illness

If your child is too ill to attend school, please call the office on 020 8560 6721 or email Mrs Mcloughlin at absence@theblueschool.com on the first morning of the illness before 9.30 am.

On the child’s return to school we will need a note from you to explain their absence.

Requests for Leave of Absence

Please complete an Application for Leave of Absence Form on the Parental Forms page or, simply use the form opposite (above if viewing on smartphones)

As a Parent/ Carer with whom the child lives you should complete an Application for Leave of Absence form if you are requesting leave of absence during term time. There is no entitlement to leave in term time and Parents/Carers should not expect leave of absence to be granted as of right. Approval is discretionary and only in exceptional circumstances. It is possible in extreme circumstances that your child could be removed from the school roll and you would need to reapply for a place on your return.

Please return the completed form to the Headteacher via the absence@theblueschool.com email no less than 4 (four) weeks before the date when you want the period of absence to start, stating your reasons for needing to take your child out of school during term time.

After School

Pick up time in the afternoon is 3.20pm sharp. If for some reason you are delayed or any arrangements change then please do ring the office on 020 8560 6721.

Arriving Late

If you are running late and it is possible, please ring the school office to let us know.

Punctuality is an important life habit. The whistle goes at 08.50am so please arrive in good time so that your children don’t have to rush and feel stressed at the start of the day. Late arrival is disruptive to everyone in the class. We lock the South Street gate at 08.55am. This will provide 5 minutes for parents dropping off to come back across the playground and leave. On any rare occasion that you might arrive after your child’s line has gone in, you will need to take her or him to sign in at the Office via the main gates.

Collective Worship

We all participate in an act of Christian worship on a daily basis at 10.15am. This worship is central to the school day and is regularly supported by local clergy. Whilst we strongly encourage all children to attend, we have to point out by law that parents do have a right to withdraw their child from worship if they wish. Children start and finish the school day with a prayer in their classrooms.
